Evil Geniuses eliminate TYLOO from IEM Beijing after defeating the Chinese team 2-0 (16-12 Mirage, 16-9 Inferno).
The Group B elimination match between Evil Geniuses and TYLOO kicked off on Mirage, which saw the North American team secure the first two rounds of the map before losing to the rifle of YuLun "Summer" Cai in the third. However, that did nothing to stop Peter "stanislaw" Jarguz and company as they marched into the next few rounds unaffected by the offensive tactics of TYLOO. After planting themselves at a scoreline of 9-5, a 1v2 clutch from Tsvetelin "CeRq" Dimitrov solidified Evil Geniuses as the victors of the first half as they closed out their CT side with double digits.
Summer opened up the second half with four big kills during the pistol round to secure TYLOO their most convincing round win yet. The 22-year-old continued to run rampant for several more rounds as he managed to grab another quad kill during round 20 to tie up the scoreline 10-10. Sadly, the heroics of one player wasn't enough to keep Evil Geniuses at bay as they bounced right back into the game and stole the map from TYLOO, who respectively lost 16-12.
Evil Geniuses' pick, Inferno, saw the North American squad yet again secure the first pistol round of the map, this time on their T side. stanislaw and his troops were quick to assert themselves as the more experienced team as they aggressively attacked both sides of the map to win five consecutive rounds in a row. With their advantage over TYLOO now established, Evil Geniuses proceeded to march ahead for the remainder of the half as they ended their T side with a 10-5 lead.
It was do or die for TYLOO as they switched sides, and with just five rounds separating their opponent from victory, the chances of them securing a map of their own were looking grim. Luckily for TYLOO, WingHei "Freeman" Cheung had no plans of going down without a fight as he opened up the half with a triple kill during the pistol round to give his team a chance. Despite their best efforts, the Chinese team was only able to string three rounds together before the game yet again turned in Evil Geniuses favor.
With the hopes of their opponent now shattered, the North American team was able to close out the map 16-9, eliminating TYLOO from the tournament and securing themselves a spot in the Group B decider match.
